In-home assessment

What We Test For

Indoor Air Quality

Includes comprehensive laboratory chemical analysis covering coatings such as paints and varnishes; PVC cement; HFCs and CFCs (including freon leaks); adhesives and glues; gasoline, diesel, and kerosene; mothballs and p-dichlorobenzene; light hydrocarbons and solvents; methylene chloride (commonly found in insecticides); personal care, alcohol, and medicinal products; chemical fragrances; dry-cleaning solvents; and benzene. Testing also includes analysis for EPA-designated Hazardous Air Pollutants, toxic gas testing for carbon monoxide, ozone, formaldehyde, sewer gas, and VOCs, as well as combustible gas leak detection and radon soil testing.

EMF and Radiation

Involves magnetic field, radio frequency, and electric field testing; evaluation of dirty electricity and wiring errors; surface beta, alpha, and gamma radiation testing; assessment of proper grounding and earthing; and lighting evaluation.

Mold

Includes air, dust (with ERMI analysis), cavity, and surface sampling; a full-house thermal imaging scan; moisture intrusion and humidity audits; thorough visual inspection; and inspection of HVAC systems and ducting.

Sound and Vibration

We evaluate unwanted or unknown sound and vibration sources, indoor and outdoor isolation, sound deadening, and acoustics, with consulting on sound healing frequencies and installation practices for theaters or sound rooms.

Water Quality

Includes collection of water samples to test for contaminants such as heavy metals, chlorine, and other harmful substances, with testing for up to 45 contaminants.

Chemical

Involves visually inspecting chemical-based products used in living areas (including personal care and cleaning products), determining safety thresholds, and providing education and training on the use of the Environmental Working Group’s website, barcode-scanning apps, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), along with consulting on best practices and safer alternative products.

Lighting

Includes a visual inspection throughout the home to determine impacts on circadian rhythm, blue light exposure, and flicker rate, along with education and consulting on remediation and best lighting practices.

Frequenty Asked Questions

Most in-home assessments take between 6 to 7 hours, depending on the size of the home and the complexity of the issues we're testing for. Larger homes or properties with multiple concerns (mold, EMFs, air quality, etc.) may take longer (up to 2 days). We take the time needed to thoroughly evaluate every key area without rushing the process.

Yes — a few small things help us get accurate results:

  • Keep windows and doors closed for at least 12 hours before indoor air quality testing.
  • Make sure we have access to attics, crawl spaces, basements, utility rooms, and any areas of concern.
  • If you have pets, it helps to secure them during the visit.

We’ll send you a quick prep checklist ahead of time so you know exactly what to expect.
